The art of true Grand Prix driving was rarely demonstrated better

After a shortened but heavily eventful F1 season in 2020, everyone is looking back. British established motorsport journalist David Tremayne also looks back on 2020 and chooses the Turkish GP as the best race of the season. Lewis Hamilton gave the perfect demonstration of real F1 driving.

Hamilton demonstrates real F1 driving

Lewis Hamilton won his seventh world title with Mercedes in 2020, and the team also received its seventh consecutive manufacturer's title in a row. For the title of Hamilton, the GP of Turkey was a crucial weekend. Tremayne writes on Formula1.com:

"Lewis Hamilton’s performance in the Turkish GP placed him in a class of his own as he staged a tour de force in dire conditions to clinch his seventh World Championship and thus equal Michael Schumacher’s tally, having already exceeded the German’s record of victories."

Gasly commemorates Hubert after first victory

Although Treymane chooses the race of Turkey as the best race, though the Turkish Grand Prix is not his highlight of the year. For the highlight of the year, according to the Brit, we need to be looking at Pierre Gasly at Monza.

"The sight of Pierre Gasly sitting alone on the podium at Monza, after the victory celebrations. Here was a young man, on his way back up the F1 ranks in his best season despite being dropped by Red Bull"

"He savoured the biggest moment of his life and remembered his friend Anthoine Hubert. A revealing portrait of the human side of the sport."
