Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of 2020 and will have a new opportunity at Aston Martin to revitalise his career. Fellow German, Ralf Schumacher doesn't believe Vettel has been treated fairly as Leclerc competes further up the field.

Vettel and Ferrari

Vettel has clearly lost his status as the first driver at Ferrari in the last two years. Since the arrival of Charles Leclerc, the attention within the team has shifted more and more towards the young Monegasque, and as a result, Ferrari's car too has been increasingly out of Vettel's comfort zone. This is now causing major problems.

''Vettel has not been treated fairly from the start and you saw that especially in Monza last year, when the team stayed behind Leclerc in the slipstream affair. At that time the focus was already completely on Leclerc, while in Canada and Austria Vettel really stood out from the rest," said Ralf Schumacher in a video from Sport1.de.

Conspiracy theories

''You have to remember that the drivers each have their own driving style. Leclerc might also adapt a bit faster at his young age and after a mistake he manages to catch up with the team again. The team is now completely focused on Leclerc and actually leaves Vettel out of it.

"Ferrari doesn't benefit from that at all, because they need points from both cars. Nobody can prove it, but Vettel is now only being told what is absolutely necessary."
