Christijan Albers, former Dutch Formula 1 driver, is unhappy about Alexander Albon after Sunday's race. The former Spyker F1 driver also sees a big difference between Albon and Verstappen.

The race at the Nürburgring was again not a good one for Albon. Where his teammate Max Verstappen managed to compete at the front for the win, the Thai stayed in midfield. After a strange action in which he smashed Daniil Kvyat's front wing, he complained about Pierre Gasly a little later. Albon was unable to catch up with the man he had replaced at Red Bull last year. They race me so hard', he said, frustrated about the onboard radio. To make matters worse his team caught up with him in the pits a little later because there were problems with his Honda engine. Again a very disappointing weekend for him.

"It's a wimp"

Christijan Albers saw it all with sad eyes, he says in the Formula 1 podcast of De Telegraaf. "He puts his own credibility at risk. In this respect it is just a wimp. With all due respect, who says that? I've said it several times before: it's just not him. We can talk about it for a long or short time, but he does not have the speed. At the end of the ride it hurts Max too.

"The difference between Verstappen and Albon can already be seen in the body language. Albon is just not a tough guy. That doesn't matter, because those people can get there too. But not with a team like Red Bull. They have never been convinced of him at Red Bull. But at Red Bull they learned from their mistake the year before with Gasly, when they put too much pressure on his shoulders. It's also really up to Red Bull with what they want to do in terms of budget. Maybe another, more experienced driver will ask for a little more salary," concludes Albers.
