Renault must not make any more mistakes in 2021: "We have no excuses"

Since the Italian Grand Prix, Formula 1 teams are obliged to use the same engine mode for qualifying and racing. The main beneficiary of this new rule seems to be Renault. The French team has scored a lot of points in the last three Grands Prix.

Renault is once again competing for third place among the manufacturers after a series of strong performances by Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon.

However, Cyril Abiteboul is not yet satisfied. Renault had to fail three times this season with technical problems. "We have left a lot of points behind," Abiteboul says to Auto, Motor und Sport. Next year Fernando Alonso will get back in the car of the Enstone team. "We know from Fernando that he doesn't make mistakes. We have no excuses."

Alonso has already had his first tour of the Enstone factory. He has also already fitted his seat and has done some tests on the simulator. Later this season Alonso is expected on a filming day in a two year old car or he will be testing in Abu Dhabi.
