Ever since the winter tests in Barcelona, the Racing Point has been a point of discussion within the F1 paddock. The team has managed to build a car that is very similar to the Mercedes of last year. Since the second Grand Prix of 2020, Renault has been protesting against the car, after which the French team has received a lot of support.

McLaren and Ferrari, among others, indicated in the trial that they support Renault in its protest against Racing Point, to be precise against the team's brake ducts. At Silverstone, there was a ruling from the FIA on the matter, after which Racing Point received a fine of 400 thousand euros and fifteen points deducted for the World Championship. Too little, according to Ferrari and Renault.

Soap called Formula 1

That's why those two teams appealed the punishment. Red Bull Racing is one of the teams that does not protest against the Racing Point. According to Christian Horner, the final appeal won't do much good either. "This is all quite normal, it's all part of the soap under the name Formula 1", Horner told Channel 4.

"Probably every team is going to make their positions known to each other and then negotiations will take place behind the scenes," Red Bull's team boss explains. According to Horner, clarity is the most important factor in the protest. "The negotiations will also be with the FIA, to ensure as much clarity as possible about what is and isn't allowed".
