McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl is very satisfied with the agreement that the teams have made to no longer test on circuit that have been newly added to the 2020 calendar. Previously this was still possible.

New circuits

Just before the start of the season, AlphaTauri went to the circuit of Imola, which is close to the home base of the team in Faenza. Imola is not the only circuit that has been added to the calendar. Also the Nurburgring, Portimao and Mugello are new circuits that have been added to the calendar and Istanbul Park will be added as well.

Correct outcome

"I'm very happy with this outcome. It's no secret that we were pushing for this as well", says Seidl in conversation with Motorsport.com. "If we're going to race on new tracks and others are going to test there, you'll be behind. We have also considered doing such a test with our cars. But that would definitely send the wrong signal."

"We should avoid any unnecessary risk in corona time to protect our people." So Seidl is very happy that all the other teams agreed with McLaren.
