Helmut Marko doesn't understand why Valtteri Bottas was unable to attack Max Verstappen for second place during the Spanish Grand Prix, all the more so because Red Bull Racing itself had to deal with overheated rear tyres. Furthermore, the advisor of the Milton Keynes-based formation discusses the future of the Austrian GP.

Marko emphasized that only six Grands Prix have been completed and that there is still plenty of time. It is said that the revised 2020 calendar contains seventeen Grands Prix. "And at some point, the Mercedes winning streak has to end," he told Speedweek.com.

Max Verstappen managed to keep Valtteri Bottas behind him last Sunday, despite the fact that Red Bull suffered from overheated rear tyres. "We wondered in Barcelona why Bottas couldn't overtake us. Out of kindness Bottas certainly didn't let Max finish second," the 77-year old Austrian continued.

Future of the Austrian GP

Since 2014, Formula 1 has been driving on the Red Bull Ring. However, the contract expires this year, but it seems that we will continue to travel to Spielberg in the coming years. "That practically coincides with the conclusion of the new Concorde Agreement (commercial contract between teams, FIA and promoter, note). This has been done in the meantime. The GP-extension is in progress and in a positive development," concluded Marko.
