Racing Point duo not happy: "Then no one would be protesting"

Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll are not happy that the illegal brake ducts of the RP20 are still the talk of the day and that McLaren and Ferrari have decided to appeal.

"That's all such a political thing that the team is dealing with it," Perez is quoted by Autosport.com. "You can see it's taking some energy from the people, because it's a lot of things that you have to manage. In a way, it takes away a bit of credit that should have been given to our factory people, everyone who has been involved."

Stroll totally agrees with the words of his Mexican teammate. The 21-year-old doesn't think it's fair to the Racing Point employees who worked so hard last winter to bring a competitive car to the 2020 grid. They certainly did, because Lawrence Stroll's team is in third place in the constructors' championship.

Stroll critical of rival teams

That, according to Stroll junior, is why Ferrari and McLaren have appealed against the penalty handed out by the stewards to Racing Point. "I think if we were running around in 14th and 15th, no one would be protesting", said the Canadian. They say it doesn't cause much distraction at Stroll. "I have a job to do. My focus is on driving and the rest is background noise."
