AlphaTauri extends factory shutdown
As a result of the coronapandemic, the factories of the Formula 1 teams were forced to close down. Some factories are equally close to government orders and with daily new developments the question is when work can be resumed. In Italy, one of the worst affected countries, several measures remain in force.
AlphaTauri remains closed
Red Bull Racing's Italian sister team, AlphaTauri, has announced via Twitter that they will keep the doors closed a little longer. Initially it was planned to resume work this week, but that is not yet possible.
As a result, the team's factory will remain closed for two more weeks, at least until May 1st. Whether the factory will reopen afterwards is still to be seen, which partly depends on the Italian government and their measures.
Other teams
In the same message from AlphaTauri we also see that this decision came after consultation with the FIA, Formula 1 and the other teams. In this consultation, all parties decided to extend the 'shutdown' by two weeks. It is expected that the other teams will come up with a statement shortly.
Due to continuing difficulties caused by the #Covid19 worldwide pandemic and after consultation between the @FIA, @F1 and all the teams, we have decided to extend our current factory shutdown by a further two weeks, until 1st May 2020. pic.twitter.com/R84FUVLmqN
