McLaren will return to using Mercedes engines in 2021, switching from current partner Renault after just six seasons away from the German manufacturer.

McLaren have struck a four year deal with Mercedes to use their engines until at least 2024.

McLaren and Mercedes saw success in their previous partnership, winning three drivers' titles together, twice with Mika Hakkinen in 1998 and 1999 and then with Lewis Hamilton in 2008.

For the most part, their partnership produced a car capable of winning races, before McLaren made the brave decision to switch to Honda, a choice that didn't pay off, as they struggled for power for three years before moving to current supplier Renault.
