Kubica struggling for positives following Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying
Robert Kubica was struggling to find any positives to take from qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix after he qualified last for the race at the Hungaroring.
Kubica will start from the back of the grid at Sunday's race as he was over half a second down on 19th starter Lance Stroll. However, his teammate, George Russell will start in a much better position with his qualifying effort of 16th not enough for Q2 but a penalty to Antonio Giovinazzi means he will start 15th on the grid.
Last time out Kubica was able to score Williams' first points of the season, however, he'll need some help from the weather for a repeat. The Pole was short on words for his performance at qualifying and admitted some "desperate" changes didn't work.
"We were lucky with the weather and support today, but unfortunately the pace is what it is," Kubica said in his post-qualifying report.
"I felt happy with the car and with the balance, but in general I lacked grip. We were lacking half a second, we tried something desperate and as you can see it did not work."
