Racing Point driver Sergio Perez has admitted the points were just "out of reach" for his team at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Perez could only manage P11 after qualifying originally in P16, but grid penalties meant the Mexican driver was lifted up to P13. The Racing Point driver said it was "frustrating" to once again miss out on the points. Perez has not scored a point since his P6 finish in Azerbaijan in April.

"We gave it everything today, but points were just out of our reach," Perez admitted. "My start was good, but I locked up into turn three trying to get ahead of (Antonio) Giovinazzi and that's pretty much where I stayed for the rest of the race - trying to chase him down.

"There was not much difference between the soft and the medium tyres in the first part of the race and most of the cars ahead of us were able to run a very similar strategy.

"There were no real opportunities to do anything different. It's always frustrating to finish in P11, but that is the reality of our speed today (Sunday)."

Perez's team-mate Lance Stroll also finished outside of the top 10 - with the Canadian driver three places behind the Mexican in P14.
