Ricciardo post Monaco qualifying: "I’m happy with the end result"

Daniel Ricciardo has revealed his pleasure at reaching Q3 during qualifying of the Monaco Grand Prix, as both Renault drivers had relatively good results at the Principality.

Despite being nowhere near the front of the grid, as Mercedes and Max Verstappen fought for that, Ricciardo came seventh in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix whilst Nico Hulkenberg qualified in P11. The result marks a considerable improvement from the team who have so far struggled for consistency and pace. Ricciardo will also start a place further forward in P6 due to Pierre Gasly’s penalty for blocking Romain Grosjean.

Following the successful session, Ricciardo reflected on the progress the team have made since earlier in the week.

“I’m happy with the end result, especially with where we started on Thursday,” the Aussie said.

“We made some brave changes to the car even after FP3, but that worked and going that extra mile has paid off.

Ricciardo also paid tribute to the team's performance as a whole saying: “The team made a strong recovery today and we can be pleased with that.

“We got into a good rhythm from Q1 all the way through to Q3, which is so important here as qualifying is so significant.”
