After taking his first pole position of the season, Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas thought that his pole-setting lap wasn't perfect but "good enough", as the championship leader will try to extend his lead at the top tomorrow.

Bottas leads the championship by a single point right now over teammate Lewis Hamilton with the duo having won a race each and finishing second in the other. The Finn's fastest lap in Australia, which earns you an extra point since this season, is the difference between himself and Hamilton.

Bottas topped FP2 and FP3 and now put his car on pole position, and he reflected on the weekend to Martin Brundle after climbing out of his car.

"It's been a good weekend so far," he said

"Felt really comfortable today. Honestly struggled to get the perfect lap in Q3 but it was good enough.

"The lap was OK. Not completely how I want it. The car has been really good this weekend and Lewis improved a lot. it was super close.
