Alpine appoints former Mercedes CTO Mike Elliott to lead technical operations

Elliott will lead and oversee the team’s technical and engineering functions at its factory in the UK. His arrival is expected to strengthen Alpine’s technical structure as the team continues its efforts to improve performance and reduce the gap to Formula One’s leading teams.

The appointment represents a return to familiar surroundings for Elliott, who previously worked at Enstone as Principal Aerodynamist between 2008 and 2012. During that period, he was part of the team’s technical operation before going on to build an extensive career elsewhere in Formula One.

Elliott has spent 23 years working in the sport, gaining experience with Renault, McLaren and Mercedes. Most recently, he served as Chief Technical Officer at Mercedes, where he held a senior role within one of Formula One’s most successful organisations.

Across his career, Elliott has contributed to eight Constructors’ Championships and eight Drivers’ Championships. That record underlines the depth of experience he brings to Alpine as the team works to develop its car and strengthen its competitiveness.

His return comes at an important stage for Alpine. The Enstone-based outfit has shown improved performances on track and is now aiming to build on that progress. The wider objective is to close the gap to the top four teams and establish a stronger position in the competitive midfield.

As Chief Technical Officer, Elliott will be responsible for overseeing the technical direction of the team and coordinating its engineering functions. His experience across multiple teams, as well as his previous connection with Enstone, gives him a strong foundation as he begins the new role.

Elliott’s appointment adds further experience to Alpine’s leadership structure and provides the team with a senior technical figure as it looks to convert recent improvements into more consistent results.
