Moto GP is set to return to Spa-Francorchamps in the next few years after the government has approved a loan for the project. The circuit, which is one of Formula 1's fastest, used to be used by Moto GP with the last race being held in the 1990s. A loan of what is thought to be close to 30 million euros is to be used to equip the track with what is needed for bikes to race around it.

The current plan is for Spa to host a MotoGP race in 2024 but will hold the EWC World Endurance Championship event in 2022.

The circuit has confirmed a contract extension for Formula 1 until the 2021 season with an option to extend it even further in the future. The circuit plans to be able to hold both Formula 1 and Moto GP in the same year in the future.

A few Formula 1 circuits have held F1 races and Moto GP races in the same year including Silverstone and Catalunya.
