Fernando Alonso tells Mick Schumacher to try and get into F1 "as early as you can"

Fernando Alonso has advised Mick Schumacher to take the first Formula 1 opportunity that comes his way. The young driver tested for Ferrari today and is set to drive for Alfa Romeo tomorrow. Alonso wants Schumacher to get into Formula 1 as soon as possible and should a team offer him a contract in the next year or two then he should take it without hesitation. 

"It's better to go always as early as you can," Alonso told Sky Sports News.

"You never know when the train will come in Formula 1 when you are young.

"He's in F2 this year, that's the full concentration I guess for him to do a good championship. If he does well and an F1 team relies on your talent you have to take that train."

The Spanish racer began his Formula 1 career at the age of 19 and it is clear through the number of young drivers on the current grid that Schumacher could make it to F1. 

The 20-year-old will keep his head down and try to perform well in Formula 2 this season and will hope that more opportunities to drive Formula 1 cars come up in the future.
