Ted Kravitz, Sky Sports' pit reporter, has apologised for a joke he made about George Russell in front of Mercedes staff, during the reporter's traditional post-race review in the paddock.
George Russell finished third in the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, behind winner Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris. The latter crossed the line with brake problems. Had the race lasted a lap longer, the McLaren driver would probably have lost his second place to Russell.

Ted Kravitz's joke

In the debrief and standing in front of Mercedes' garage during the live broadcast, Kravitz said of Russell: "George Russell, he can't even overtake Lando Norris, who hasn't got any brakes. What's wrong with George Russell?"
The Mercedes staff responded with a smile, but Kravitz still quickly decided to apologise. "'I know, I know, there were reasons why. Sorry, that was slightly awkward," the reporter added before walking further into the paddock.
