Racing Point may have finished way down the table in 2018 following Force India’s collapse but Sergio Perez is well aware they need to be pushing for, best of the rest.
Perez will be joined by Lance Stroll in 2019, following Lawrence Stroll’s purchase of Force India after the team went into administration, midway through 2019. Perez was able to keep his seat despite Stroll replacing the talented Esteban Ocon and the Mexican is well aware the team are not yet ready to push for the top three.
“We are not the fastest in the centre, but not even the slowest,” Perez told Marca.
“The difference between the quickest and the quickest does not come in half a second.
“Our goal is clear, that is to finish fourth among the builders.

“What I have seen so far makes me very hopeful, the motivation in the team is high, and the basics are very solid. We have everything to achieve the goal.”
Perez also sat on the fence when it came to picking a title winner saying: “Ferrari seemed pretty strong in the tests, but we do not know what a margin the Mercedes was,” added the former McLaren driver.
