Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi feels having Kimi Raikkonen as a teammate benefits him as he is like a “teacher and a reference” from the experience he has in Formula 1.

Giovinazzi was given a seat with Alfa this year, replacing Marcus Ericsson after having been in a test and reserve role for the past two years with Ferrari, Sauber and Haas.

Giovinazzi said (quoted by Motorsport Week): "Kimi is really motivated this year and it’s something really good to have.

"For me he can be a teacher but also a reference during the year.

"With the results and everything the important thing in the end is to work really well together, going on the same direction with the car, and achieve the best result for the team.

"[Raikkonen] is a good target I would say. He’s a World Champion driver, he’s a driver who won a Formula 1 race last October, so yeah, I think he can be a really good target.

"This will be my car, I’m working with my team, with my engineer and everything.

"Of course in the last two years I was third driver so I was always jumping to one car and the other car so it was not really easy, but now I’m enjoying this moment.

"I think if anything it’s working really well and this is important."
