Lewis Hamilton was asked if he would ever advise Max Verstappen to join Mercedes, given his long history with the Brackley-based team alongside Toto Wolff. The Englishman also had kind words for Red Bull, acknowledging it as one of the greatest teams in Formula 1.
Even in Great Britain, the main topic of discussion revolves around the possible market shuffle involving Max Verstappen and Red Bull on one side, and George Russell and Mercedes on the other, with the futures of both parties potentially (and perhaps) crossing paths in 2026.
Rumors reported a few days ago reignited speculation about a possible move of the Dutchman to Toto Wolff’s team. The news was later denied by multiple sources, including GPBlog.
Lewis Hamilton, who will be racing his first home Grand Prix at Silverstone as a Ferrari driver, was also asked about the current driver market situation. In particular, the British driver was questioned about whether he would ever advise Max Verstappen to join Mercedes, given his long history with the team.

Hamilton 'flirts' with Red Bull while advising Verstappen

''Of course,'' he told GPblog among other media. ''I mean, he's coming from a great team and I think many many years ago I was asked something about... I can't remember. I think I was just so diehard like Mercedes at the time, and I remember saying something about Red Bull being only a dreams company.
''And I always regretted it. because I was just saying that Mercedes at the time was just great, I was really just trying to G up my team, but the truth is, Red Bull have been an incredible team, there's so many people there that are exceptional and they've dominated for years.''
Finally, responding to the previous question, Hamilton concluded: ''What I can say if someone, anyone was going to ask me about Mercedes is an amazing team also, with naturally the passion.
''They've got great personnel, it's a great factory, great environment to work in. So of course I would say, be interested to see what happens.''
