Lando Norris will start the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position. The Briton was narrowly quicker than Max Verstappen in the Red Bull and therefore the two friends will start together from the front row of the grid. See the provisional grid for the Spanish Grand Prix here.

In the end, it made a difference of +0.020s. For the second race weekend in a row, the differences at the front of the grid were minimal, and again, it is Verstappen who just misses out on pole position. With the long run towards the first corner, Verstappen will be hoping he can give his rival the lead at the first corner.

On the second row of the grid, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be hoping for something too exciting between the numbers one and two. Indeed, they will be in the front row to take advantage of that, as well as having the advantage of the slipstream towards the first corner. However, he must also look behind him, as both Ferrari drivers are on the third row of the grid.

Sergio Perez, not for the first time this season, disappointed in qualifying. The Mexican was six-tenths slower than his teammate, and as a result, did not move beyond eighth place. Due to the grid penalty of three spots the Red Bull driver had received after the Canada Grand Prix, Perez will start from P11 on Sunday.
