Stroll speaks about his exceptional race starts

You may be surprised to hear that Lance Stroll has one of the best records when it comes to gaining places on the first lap of races in Formula One.

The Canadian gained 36 places on opening laps in F1 in 2019. Admittedly, this has often been helped by starting low down the grid and benefitting from first lap accidents and congested track.

However, this means that he is just as likely to be involved in these collisions, so it shows that Stroll has skill to avoid them regularly.

He has joined Racing Point in a controversial move for 2019 and will be hoping that his first lap prowess continue.

He told RaceFans: “I have always positioned my car well in the first laps of the different races.
