Since 2022 Mercedes have struggled with their cars. This season looks to be no different for the German team, who are currently fourth in the constructors championship. Speaking on Sky Sports, former F1 driver Damon Hill has weighed in on the disappointing performance from the team so far this season.
Following Sunday's race in Imola, where Mercedes finished sixth and seventh, Hill has shared his views on the teams performance, highlighting how they are being beaten by one of their customers: "Being beaten by a customer as well, in McLaren, so they are really the last of the top four teams aren't they now,"
"So it's a bit depressing for them. I mean they're a long way from the rest of them. That's no good."
Mercedes are currently fourth in the constructors championship, whilst McLaren are ahead in third by 75 points. In Sunday's race, both Mclaren drivers finished ahead of Mercedes.

'They're banging their head against a brick wall'

Moreover, Natalie Pinkham referred to the team as "banging their head against a brick wall," to which Naomi Schiff also added: "Since this new era of cars they haven't been able to turn around like some of the others have, like the likes of Aston Martin that we saw, like the likes of McLaren right now."
"Lewis [Hamilton] going off the track is very uncharacteristic as well," she added.
