The stories surrounding the likely departure of chief designer Adrian Newey at Red Bull have taken another twist. Although nothing has been officially announced yet, it seems that the British engineer is on his way to Ferrari. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Newey may even "work immediately on the 2026 car, with no restrictions regarding gardening leave", according to the Italian sports medium's website.
Frederic Vasseur, the Maranello-based racing stable's team boss, reportedly did not travel with the team to Miami on Tuesday but first made a stopover in London. Here, the Frenchman is rumoured to have met with Newey to finalise the deal with the coveted car designer. According to Gazzetta, the deal with Newey will be made public after the Miami Grand Prix.

Unrest within Red Bull

Growing unrest within the Red Bull team is considered the main reason for Newey's dissatisfaction, who has so far designed a total of seven championship-winning cars for the Milton Keynes-based team. Accusations of inappropriate behaviour against team boss Horner and the ongoing power struggle within the team were probably the final straw for Newey.
Earlier, it seemed Aston Martin were also in the race for Newey's signature and Mercedes were also mentioned as a possible new home, but it seems the British designer has definitely set his sights on Ferrari.
