At the moment, Red Bull Racing have the fastest car of anyone. The team closest after that are Ferrari. The team is making strides, but does it stand a chance of challenging the Austrian racing stable in Australia? Charles Leclerc shares his thoughts on the matter.

So far, Ferrari is already a lot closer to Red Bull than in the 2023 season. After the opening race in Bahrain, Ferrari team boss Frederic Vasseur was very positive. Indeed, the gap has narrowed by 50 percent. In Saudi Arabia, the Scuderia seems to have taken another step forward. Indeed, the difference between Charles Leclerc and the nearest Red Bull, that of Sergio Perez, was only about 10 seconds.

Ferrari will not come up with updates for Australia

Having taken this step forward at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, eyes are naturally turned to the next race. Can Ferrari get even closer to Red Bull in Melbourne? Charles Leclerc tempers these expectations. ''I don't think we'll have many things new in Melbourne, so without new things in Melbourne, I think we are doing a good job by maximising our package at the moment, so that's where we are. I think we'll probably have to wait and see whenever we have new parts to the car, what kind of step we take forward, and hopefully, that will bring us closer to Red Bull.''

Apart from Ferrari, there is currently no one who can come close to Red Bull. So the Italian racing stable will have to wait until they have new (major) updates, but the Austrian racing stable will certainly not wait either. They will reportedly come up with major updates in Imola.
