The coveted spot next to Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing is a much-discussed position. Sergio Perez has a contract until the end of 2024. Candidates mentioned to be Verstappen's teammate are Carlos Sainz of Ferrari and Alexander Albon of Williams. Helmut Marko addresses those rumours

"Albon is not an option for us, he has a contract until 2025," the Graz-based Austrian explained to Kleine Zeitung. Ferrari driver Sainz probably won't be it either. " Sainz probably wants to make a decision before we do," Marko continued.

Solution may also be within Red Bull

Charles Leclerc, currently Sainz's teammate, was told that from 2025 Lewis Hamilton will be his teammate. So there is no place for Sainz at the Italian Scuderia. Yet the solution for Red Bull Racing does not necessarily have to be external. Indeed, at subsidiary team Visa Cash App RB, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda are driving.

Marko reassures the gentlemen at Visa Cash App RB that there is an opportunity for them. "For both, it is not only about staying in Formula 1, but also about the possibility of moving on to Red Bull Racing. This applies to whoever is clearly dominating the season within the team."

With that, Marko also indicates that Tsunoda is an option for Red Bull Racing. It was long thought that the Japanese was precisely not.
