Max Verstappen thinks he's ready to fight for titles at this point in his career, as the Dutchman is finishing his fourth season in Formula 1 already despite only being 21 years old.

The Red Bull driver has shown exceptional form as of late, winning a race getting second place twice in the past three Grands Prix in Brazil, Mexico and the United States. After a rocky start to the season, he's shown that he does possess the consistency to be a world champion, something many people tipped him to be when he entered F1 back in 2015.

When asked by Crash.net if he's ready to challenge for a title in 2019 together with Honda, the Dutchman responded confidently but with nuance.

"I think I can because I've done now almost four seasons, and Lewis [Hamilton] for example was fighting for a title in his first season,” he explained.

"Are you ready for it? You're not sure. Was he? Maybe yes, maybe not.

"But once you have that car underneath you, you are definitely going for it, because normally you're only fighting your teammate, because there's always a bit of a dominance with the cars.

"It's never 100% clear if somebody is ready or not. As soon as you have that car you're going to drive it as fast as you can, and if it's the fastest car on the grid you're normally winning races or you're second."
