Ferrari: Vettel will gain strength from 2018 title defeat

Ferrari believes Sebastian Vettel will be able to put 2018 title defeat to good use in future seasons. The team say Vettel will be able to grow and use this season as motivation in 2019.

Two weeks ago, Lewis Hamilton finished 4th picking up enough points to wrap up the championship battle. Jock Clear says this defeat will come to Vettel's aid.

“I think, on the whole, he has come to this battle willing to take risks, willing to give it his all and we’re part of that. We’ve all done our part this year to the ups and downs," Clear, Ferrari's senior engineer said.

“I think from Seb’s point of view it just gives him more strength to come back next year and say ‘this is unfinished business’."

Ferrari has made vital mistakes throughout the 2018 season, but Clear says it's been their strongest for a while. He suggests the Italian team should take the positives away from 2018 and use those to grow.

“We look back over the season, we look at the strengths of what is probably the strongest Ferrari season for 10 years and we build on those strengths,” he added.
