Over recent years, there has been a push to support women in motorsport. First, there was the W-series, and the F1 Academy has existed since this season. Max Verstappen comes from a racing family, about which many say he got his racing talent from his mother, Sophie Kumpen.

Verstappen was asked about what he thinks it would take to get female drivers into Formula 1. He thinks it is very difficult for women to get into Formula 1. Of course, only a small percentage of all drivers enter Formula 1 anyway, so for women, this percentage will be even lower because there are now fewer female drivers.

Training hard

Furthermore, women do think they can handle it physically, if they train hard. The Dutchman thinks that if you have enough talent, you can get there. "I don't think,
team bosses or people who make decisions to choose their drivers look at it like, oh, no, we only go for men. If there is a woman who is beating everyone else, then naturally they will have the opportunity to get to Formula 1," Verstappen said.
