F1 records Hungary: Verstappen breaks Ricciardo's Red Bull record

The Hungarian Grand Prix was convincingly won by Max Verstappen. In doing so, Red Bull Racing broke the record for most consecutive wins, but those are certainly not the only records broken this weekend.

Verstappen and Red Bull grab records

Verstappen recorded his 44th win in Formula 1 in Hungary. This marked Red Bull's twelfth win in a row, breaking McLaren's 1988 record of 11 wins in a row. Unlike Red Bull, McLaren scored all these victories in one season. The Austrian racing stable now stands at 11 consecutive victories in a single season (all in 2023), so this coming weekend in Belgium it can also take that record away from the British team.

Verstappen finished in Hungary for the 30th time in a row, breaking former Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo's record. Indeed, the Australian did so 29 times. The two-time world champion has not crashed out since the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. However, the real record is still a long way off and is held by Lewis Hamilton, who did not crash out 48 races in a row between 2018 and 2020.

Hamilton breaks records again

Hamilton also broke records again in Hungary. The Brit already has many records to his name, of course, and after the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, one more was added. Hamilton took pole position at the Hungaroring, making him now the only F1 driver with nine poles at a single circuit. Previously, the Brit shared this record with Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna with eight poles on one specific circuit. The seven-time world champion also broke the record with most poles in Formula 1, which went from 103 to 104 this weekend.
