After a very tough start of the year, Romain Grosjean has said that he's back to his normal self now, with the Frenchman being more consistent with his performances in recent races.

With a patch of back luck combined with some mistakes, the Frenchman was the penultimate driver on the grid to score points, as he didn't do so until the Austrian Grand Prix. His teammate Kevin Magnussen, meanwhile, is second in the 'best of the rest' championship as he sits eighth.

Grosjean looked to be losing his seat at Haas after this year because of his many mistakes, but he seems to have a fighting chance now. It was reported that Ferrari initially tried to get Charles Leclerc to drive there next season, but Haas owner Gene Haas opted against that move.

"I was not very proud of the start of the season, but I knew I would find the key - and now I'm back to normal," Grosjean told Ekstra Bladet.

His boss, Haas team principal Guenther Steiner, responded to the 'key' comments.

"I hope he doesn't lose it again!

"I'd better ask him where he puts it in case he loses it again - maybe we need a red string on it.

"Joking aside, Romain has been racing for a long time and is very experienced.

"He knows how to handle himself, so if he says that, I hope that it works.

"We just need to make sure he does it all of the time and avoids all these fluctuations; there are limits to how many of those you can do.

"But I think he is doing fine right now."
