With the Montreal round now in the books, F1 heads to the streets of the Principality for the sixth round of the 2026 season. Monaco now takes centre stage as the championship moves to one of the most iconic and prestigious events on the calendar: here is the full schedule for every session of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Formula 1 heads to Monaco fresh from the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, where Kimi Antonelli claimed his fourth victory of the season to further strengthen his position at the top of the drivers' standings. The Italian now holds a 43-point advantage over Mercedes teammate George Russell, giving himself a healthy cushion in the title race. With plenty of races still to come, there is no room for calculations just yet, but the Monaco Grand Prix nonetheless represents another significant moment in the championship battle.
Around the streets of Monte Carlo, however, Mercedes is expected to face a sterner challenge than it did in Canada. With engine performance playing a less decisive role than at many other circuits, the spotlight shifts more towards aerodynamic efficiency and chassis performance - areas where rivals such as Ferrari and its SF-26 could prove particularly competitive.
After the Sprint weekend in Montreal, Formula 1 returns to its traditional format in Monaco, with three practice sessions, qualifying and the Grand Prix itself spread across three days in the Principality. Track action gets underway on Friday 5 June with FP1 at 13:30 local time, followed by FP2 later in the afternoon at 17:00. Teams and drivers will then have one final hour of practice on Saturday morning, with FP3 scheduled for 12:30 ahead of qualifying at 16:00 - a session that often plays a decisive role around the narrow streets of Monte Carlo.

The highlight of the weekend, the Monaco Grand Prix, is set to begin at 15:00 local time on Sunday 7 June, with drivers facing one of the most demanding and prestigious races on the Formula 1 calendar.

Norris backs Ferrari to lead the way in Monaco: 'I think they will be on pole'

Lando Norris has downplayed McLaren’s chances ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, despite returning to the venue where he enjoyed one of the standout weekends of his 2025 campaign. The Briton believes Ferrari could head into the weekend as the favourite, with the Scuderia’s strong performance in low-speed corners potentially giving it a crucial edge around the tight and twisty streets of Monte Carlo.
While Monaco proved to be a happy hunting ground for Norris last season, he is not entirely convinced McLaren will be able to replicate that form. The championship contender admitted that some of the weaknesses the team has shown in certain conditions this year leave him cautious about predicting a dominant performance, even at a circuit he traditionally enjoys. Nevertheless, Norris is looking forward to returning to the Principality, acknowledging that Monaco’s unique characteristics often make it one of the most unpredictable weekends on the calendar.

“Monaco was a track that was decent to us last year. Honestly, I think the Ferrari will be on pole next weekend in Monaco, so their low-speed performance is far better than everyone else. I look forward to Monaco, because it's Monaco. I had good success there last year and it was one of my best weekends, most exciting weekends. But I think in the places we know we're struggling, it's not something that gives me confidence to say we're going to be incredible. But you never know.”
