Max Verstappen has revealed that his new Red Bull teammate Pierre Gasly isn't a stranger to him, as the Dutchman explained he's known Gasly for some years, with the Frenchman even staying over at the Verstappen residence at times.

Verstappen sat down on Dutch tv-show Peptalk to discuss all things F1, and with the relatively recent news of Gasly joining the Dutchman at the Bulls, much of the conversation was focused on that aspect.

The 20-year-old told how his relationship with Gasly currently is.

"I've known him for a few years," Verstappen said.

"He stayed at my house for a while, and we played a lot of FIFA during that time.

"He's a great guy, so I like seeing him come to the team."

Gasly will be replacing Daniel Ricciardo, who set off this chain of moving drivers by revealing he'll be at Renault next season. Verstappen doesn't know exactly why the Aussie left, despite there being rumours of Ricciardo wanting to be the number one option at a team instead of battling the Dutchman.

"I don't really care why Daniel decided to switch.

"He'll undoubtedly think that Renault will have better engines next year than this year."

However, the relationship between Verstappen and the Honey Badger won't change, so he claims.

"It's not like I'll never see him again, of course.

"He'll be driving at a different team, but we'll still see each other often."
