Williams driver Lance Stroll is "on standby" for a switch to Force India as he looks to follow in his father's footsteps.

Stroll's father, Lawrence, recently cancelled plans with Williams and essentially saved Force India from administration, with the help of his consortium.

Well, now it looks like Lance is on his way there as well, after the young Canadian revealed that he's on standby for Force India.

"Yeah, I'm on standby at the moment," Stroll revealed following yesterday's Belgian Grand Prix to RaceFans.net, where he finished 13th. "Right now I'm going into Monza the same mentality as always. I assume to be driving for Williams."

Stroll is expected to visit the Force India factory some time this later this week to get his seat fitted, so they can prepare his car for next season.

The Williams driver says that he still doesn't 100% know if he'll get a chance at the team.

"We'll see what Lawrence wants to do," Stroll confirmed.

Late on last week, Otmar Szafnauer, Force India's team principal claimed that his side are looking to stick with their current drivers Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon, who both had excellent Belgian Grands Prix, finishing fifth and sixth respectively, for the short term.

"What happens thereafter, it's not impossible to change that's for sure, but a lot of agreements would have to happen. So I don't know, it's hard for me to predict that in the future," Force India's team principal explained.
