According to former Ferrari driver Rene Arnoux, it was high time the Italian racing team said goodbye to Mattia Binotto. He strongly criticises the former Ferrari team boss's conduct.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arnoux says he was sad to see Ferrari miss out on the championship despite the team's competitive form. He acknowledges that there were reliability problems, but thinks the team itself squandered too many opportunities.

No mercy for Binotto

He therefore calls out Ferrari's mistakes during the season. "I have never been a fan of Binotto. Someone who says he will do better next year does not deserve the job. I would have kicked him out years ago," the 74-year-old Frenchman fumed.

"His behaviour is unacceptable when you head the best team in the world," Arnoux continued. "Jean Todt may or may not be loved, but he would never have said, 'Next year will be better'. He would win, and if he had won he would think about the next year. But of people like Todt and Ron Dennis, there are very few."
