Jacques Villeneuve says that he doesn't see any way back for Williams as a team, and describes them as "dead".

Villeneuve was world champion for Williams back in 1997, but now the Candian believes that his former team are "dead".

Williams have a new philosophy for their new car, but the risk hasn't paid off and they have fell well short of their rivals.

Just four points from the opening ten places - down to Lance Stroll's P8 in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Williams' other driver, Sergey Sirotkin is the only driver this season, who is yet to score even a single point.

Villeneuve was asked by Motorsport-Total.com if he could see any possible way forward for his former side.

"No, the team is dead," the former world champion said, very bluntly.

"I do not see anything... there is simply no management."

Villeneuve believes that Frank Williams shouldn't have handed over responsibility to Claire Williams and he should have put her brother, Jonathan, in charge - due to his motorsport experience.

"There was an alternative back then: either an heir - or an heir - and they chose Claire instead of Jonathan.

"A big mistake, you just have to look where the team is today.

"When it comes to a team like that you first have to look at the top of the pyramid, the fish starts to stink on the head.

"They are completely blind when it's all about realising where the team stands.

"You have to admit you've messed up, I do not see how the team is going to get out of it, I just do not see it."
