Sebastian Vettel insists the updates that Ferrari applied to their cars at Silverstone was the difference that allowed the Italians to beat Mercedes. Throughout the season, Ferrari have been closing in on Mercedes, but they now seem to have the upper hand.

As Mercedes did in Austria, Ferrari brought many upgrades to the British track. These included a new floor. To beat the Silver Arrows on a track they've been extra dominant on, the championship leader identifies the upgrades as a key part to victory.

"It's a tricky circuit - you need to get the balance right, of downforce and drag. I think we have a very good car, we brought some bits, they seemed to work, so I think we were very happy with the result," Vettel said in an interview on racer blog.

The German sat out for the majority of FP3 because of a neck injury. He was rumoured to be missing qualifying, but he made it out despite the pain.

"It felt good on the laps to the grid, so I took some off. Qualifying wasn't very enjoyable. I did as little running as possible, and I had the padding just to support in the corners like turn 8, that is easily flat," Vettel added.

Vettel now heads home to German ahead of his home Grand Prix. Hamilton has the chance of getting one back on his main rival this season in his own backyard. Things are getting really interesting. It's down to Mercedes to make the next move.
