Red Bull Racing's chief strategist Hannah Schmitz has been voted engineer of the year. The British have again meant a lot to Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez this year with her strategic plans.

Schmitz holds a very important position within the Red Bull team. The female chief strategist is responsible for making tactical and bold decisions during races. Schmitz also took a lot of risk with her choices in 2022, but they worked out extremely well for the Milton Keynes-based team.

For example, the British engineer played an important role at this year's Hungarian Grand Prix. Verstappen owes his impressive victory at the Hungaroring mainly to Schmitz. The Dutchman drove from P10 to victory thanks to the brilliant strategy.

The jury was also impressed by Schmitz. She was voted engineer of the year for her tactical choices. McLaren Applied let it be known on Instagram that the judges were "impressed with her strategic ability and success in making spilt-second decisions under pressure." Schmitz is the first female engineer to receive the award.
