Ferrari also wrapped up the season on Tuesday with its test day in Abu Dhabi. Both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were in action for the Pirelli tyre test, while rookie Robert Shwartzman piloted the Ferrari as part of the Young Driver Test. The young driver looks back on the day with the Italian team with satisfaction.

Ferrari had a productive day at the Yas Marina circuit. Together, the three drivers drove a total of 238 laps. At the end of the day, Ferrari topped the leaderboard with the three best times, although these do not say much during a test day.

Shwartzman got behind the wheel of the F1-75 for the third time in 2022 after two free practice sessions during the US Grand Prix and the race weekend in Abu Dhabi. The rookie took most of the work on Tuesday and drove the most laps.

"We finished a very positive test day here in Abu Dhabi with 116 laps and a solid amount of work. The testing programme was quite comprehensive with performance runs, race simulations, tests and practice starts. I feel I made a good improvement from Friday’s FP1 and for most of the sessions I was fairly close to Charles and Carlos pace wise which is also very positive for me. There are always things to improve but I think the potential we showed was very good", Shwartzman says in Ferrari's press release.

Ferrari car felt similar

"In general I am also very happy with the work we did this year with the team back in Maranello on the simulator as the car feels very similar. It was great having the chance to drive for the team ", the Ferrari rookie ends.
