Red Bull Racing have ended the Formula 1 season as the convincing winner. The world title was already in the bag, but the team edged further ahead after Max Verstappen's victory in Abu Dhabi. Ferrari also scored well and thus the Italian racing team beat Mercedes in the constructors' championship.
With Verstappen's victory and Sergio Perez's third-place finish, Red Bull run further ahead to a staggering points tally of 759. Ferrari did not need much to beat Mercedes in the championship, but did all it had to do by finishing second and fourth respectively with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Mercedes has to settle for third place this year.
Alfa Romeo and Aston Martin both finished with 55 points. As Bottas finished fifth in Imola, Alfa Romeo beat Aston Martin. Had Vettel passed Ricciardo on the last lap, that one point would have made a world of difference. The difference is $12 million in prize money, a sum very welcome for Alfa Romeo, who recently indicated they still have room left in this season's budget cap.
