Haas team owner Gene Haas is happy with his team as they scored their highest points total in team history in Austria, but the American also warned not to put too much thought into it.

The American team finished with a very high P4 and P5 finish for Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen respectively, which is the first time this season that both cars have scored points (that Grosjean has scored points, really).

It came on Haas's 50th ever Grand Prix as well, which may or may not have been a coincidence.

Haas were strong in qualifying already, with Grosjean beating Daniel Ricciardo to P6, and Magnussen putting the Aussie in a Haas sandwich from P8.

As the cars in front of them were dropping like flies, Grosjean and Magnussen kept moving up, and eventually found themselves in P4 and P5. What a result for the young team.

"I wouldn't put too much into a single race success," Gene Haas told ESPN after the Austrian Grand Prix.

"There's a lot of randomness in racing."

So, the owner clearly is clearly not reading too much into this. But shouldn't he be? Haas has been struggling to keep up with spare parts, but when they're at their strongest, they might be the fourth best team. Because they're such a young team, they don't quite have the consistency of Renault yet, but the pace is certainly there already.
