On Friday morning, Audi announced that it will be seen in Formula 1 from 2026. According to Auto Motor und Sport the next announcement won't have to be long in coming, because according to the German medium, Porsche is also eager to present its plans.

Formula 1 will have a new engine supplier before the first race after the announcement of the new engine regulations in 2026. Audi is entering Formula 1 from 2026 and is keen to take over an existing team. Now that Alfa Romeo has announced that they will stop as title sponsor and partner of Sauber after 2023, a takeover of Sauber seems the most logical step for Audi.

Porsche presents plans in week after Belgium

Audi is not the only brand of the Volkswagen Group that wants to enter Formula 1. Porsche has already acquired 50% of Red Bull Technology and according to Auto Motor und Sport wants to present this in the coming week, together with the plan to race in Formula 1 from 2026 as a partner of Red Bull Racing and sister team AlphaTauri.

According to AMuS, Audi and Porsche are not the only ones involved. The German medium talks about several other well-known parties that want to enter Formula 1 with their own engine. These brands do not want to disclose anything yet.
