Ferrari sacrificed much of 2021 to work on the 2022 car. The Italian team's choice has worked out extremely well, as F1-75 appears to be the fastest car on the grid. Yet Red Bull Racing is miles ahead in both world championships and so Mattia Binotto's position is in doubt.

As team boss, Binotto is responsible for Ferrari's performance. The 52-year-old Swiss Italian repeatedly tries to protect his people after embarrassing mistakes in the post-race interviews, but several analysts believe Binotto is too kind and should intervene more firmly. Only then can Ferrari really take that final step needed to fight for world titles.

Ferrari will be plagued by reliability problems, strategic blunders and faltering pitstops in 2022. An awful lot of points were lost unnecessarily as a result. Ralf Schumacher states on the website of the German branch of Sky Schumacher stated on the website of the German branch that changes are needed and that it might be Binotto who is the head of the line.

Binotto's position at Ferrari

"I already see him in danger during the summer break. There are too many little things that went wrong and there are too many technical problems. When you get a gift like that, to be able to race for the world championship again, and you jeopardise it like that and throw it away, it is very wry," the former Formula One driver told Sky.

The German spoke of a 'tough weekend' for the formation from Maranello. "It was a bad decision to use the tyres you needed in the race on Friday. That was bitter for Ferrari. I don't understand Leclerc's last stop. They gave away two more places," Schumacher briefly listed the mistakes. "I don't think Red Bull expected this help."
