After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, there was a lot of talk about porpoising. Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Toto Wolff called the FIA into action and now more and more drivers seem to want to see some changes. Pierre Gasly also spoke out after the race at the Baku circuit.

This is remarkable, because it is doubtful that Christian Horner is happy that the driver from the Red Bull Racing stable seems to go along with Mercedes' lament. Horner would find it nonsense to change the regulations because a team like Mercedes did its homework less well last winter. Red Bull would find it unfair if they themselves are saddled with extra work, while they have things just fine.

Gasly speaks out

Nevertheless, AlphaTauri driver Gasly is asking the FIA to investigate the matter. This is because he wants to prevent Formula 1 drivers from sustaining injuries (in the long run) from bouncing. The Frenchman calls it "certainly not healthy" in conversation with Autosport.com. He states that he doesn't think it's possible that the FIA puts them in a corner where you have to choose between health and performance.

At the moment we are looking for a compromise between a fast car and a car that is comfortable. Gasly emphasizes that as a driver you want to win and therefore choose the set-up that allows you to drive the fastest laps, but that this does or can have physical consequences.
