Kevin Magnussen is travelling to Australia full of confidence. The Dane scored points in his first two races back with the Haas F1 team and has had good results at Albert Park in the past.

Hopeful start in Formula 1

In 2014, Magnussen began his Formula One career in Australia with McLaren. 122 Grands Prix later and his second place that year is still his best result in Formula 1. In 2018, it looked like Haas would finish fourth and fifth with Romain Grosjean and Magnussen in the cars, but this did not work out due to problems after the pit stops. In 2019, Magnussen finished sixth with the Haas. All in all, it is a place where the Dane likes to drive.

"I don’t know if there’s anything about the track that clicks as such, but I’ve obviously had some really good weekends there," he says in a interview with his team. Magnussen says he would love to be in Melbourne for the race, but thinks the good results in Australia are mostly coincidence.

High expectations from Haas

After the first two races of 2022, Magnussen is very pleased with the Haas VF-22. "We’ve got a pretty good all-round car this year," he says. According to the Dane, the car is especially strong in the slower and medium speed corners and there is still work to be done on the fast corners. Magnussen thinks Albert Park is a good circuit for this year's Haas.
