"First of all, my congratulations to Charles and Ferrari. Ferrari is back, all the way back," Sainz gloated immediately afterward during the podium interview. For Ferrari, a one-two punch was a long time coming.
"The hard work is finally paying off. " Still, the driver from Madrid is not entirely satisfied with his own performance this weekend at the
Bahrain International Circuit.
"It's been a tough weekend, I'm not going to lie, I didn't have the pace today. I have some homework to do, but I will come back stronger," Sainz explained.
Sainz was tremendously sharp on the restart and seemed to be taking over the second spot by then.
"But Verstappen defended well. However, I then suddenly saw flickering lights at the back of his car and then I knew there would be another chance. It's unfortunate for him, but it is what it is. It's good for Ferrari."
