The Sauber Group, which includes the Alfa Romeo Formula One team, has appointed Alessandro Alunni Bravi as the new Managing Director. Alunni Bravi was already a member of the Sauber Group Board of Directors and has extensive experience in motorsports.

Alunni Bravi the right person for this challenge

CEO Frédéric Vasseur, to whom Alunni Bravi will report directly, is pleased with the appointment of the Italian. "Alessandro has been an integral part of the growth of our company, on and off the track, in recent years and I am excited about the contribution he will make in his new role. Few can match his knowledge of motorsport with that of business and the complex legal landscape in which we operate, and this makes Alessandro the right person for this challenge, " reads the Sauber Group press release.

Alunni Bravi is a lawyer and a graduate of the University of Perugia. In 2006, he became team manager of the Italian Formula 2 team Trident Racing. He also gave legal advice to drivers such as Felipe Massa and Jules Bianchi.

Delighted with new position

Alunni Bravi said that he considers his new position an honour and is therefore very pleased. "It is an honour to take on the challenge of being managing director of a company with the successful history that Sauber has. I am also aware of the responsibility this position brings to the more than 500 people who work at Sauber, an obligation I will take on with hard work, passion and dedication. There is still a lot of work ahead, but I am excited to embark on this new adventure."

Sauber entered Formula 1 in 1993 and enjoyed its greatest successes from 2006 to 2009 as the BMW Sauber F1 Team. In 2008, Robert Kubica scored the first and only victory for the team. Since 2019, the team has been racing under the Alfa Romeo banner. Next season, Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou are the drivers at the team.
