Aprilia have finally begun testing for their 850cc RS-GP27 bike and it's looking promising for the Italian factory heading into next year's regulation overhaul.
So far this season, Aprilia have emerged as the dominant force and are mounting a serious challenge to Ducati's MotoGP throne. The success is not just evident from the fact that factory riders Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin currently occupy the top two spots in the overall championship standings, but also from their satellite team, Trackhouse Racing, and the consisent Top 6 finishes from Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura.
While there is still a long way to go in the 2026 championship, most teams have already begun testing for their 2027 machines ahead of dramatic regulation changes which see a reduction in both aero and engine size, as well as new Pirelli tyres and sustainable fuels.
The other factories: KTM, Honda, Yamaha and Ducati, have all fielded versions of their 850cc bikes at various tests throughout the year so far. Initially, Aprilia were keen to keep their cards close to their chest and not leak any 'secrets' regarding their 2027 project.
However, now the bike has been seen on full display at the Jerez circuit:
