Welcome to GPblog's liveblog where you can catch the most relevant news of the F1 world. Toto Wolff has made it clear he isn’t counting
Max Verstappen out of the title race just yet. Speaking after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the Mercedes boss said Red Bull look competitive again and warned that Verstappen can never be underestimated when the car is in a good place. For Wolff, the Dutchman’s pace is still very much “back on the cards.”
He also pointed out how quickly things can flip in
Formula 1. A single DNF for the championship leader combined with Verstappen bagging 25 points could close the gap in no time. The deficit may look like a long shot now, but Wolff stressed that the sport has a way of swinging momentum in unexpected ways.
Ralf Schumacher on
Ferrari and Hamilton
Ralf Schumacher believes Ferrari’s relationship with
Lewis Hamilton is heading into dangerous territory. Reflecting on Baku, he criticised the team’s decision not to swap Hamilton and Leclerc and said the way both sides are dealing with each other isn’t healthy. For him, Ferrari need to face the situation directly, clear the air, and set proper limits and expectations.
Schumacher argued that the team must rebuild trust quickly if they want the partnership to work. If that confidence isn’t there on both sides, he says it would be better for Ferrari and Hamilton to go separate ways at the end of the season. In his view, mistrust only eats a team from the inside out.
